As I get really serious about counting down for the Italy trip, my insides, mind, heart and soul are on a roller coaster ride of exquisite joy and and sheer terror. I drove away from a recent Italian lesson, and all I could think (in rather piercing tones) was “WHAT THE #$%^ARE YOU DOING?!?!”
My only experience with distance running is an ill-advised half marathon that I ran (after training to WALK it). All along the course were strategically placed well-wishers and energy food and drink providers, who boosted my spirits and prodded me to continue putting one foot in front of the other. I think of this now as I count my blessings, particularly for my amazing support system that keeps (most of) my neuroses at bay.
Just this morning, I received an unbidden email from my brother, and he shared with me the following:
I’m proud of you, and so encouraged by your willingness to go on this adventure.
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, magic, and power in it. Begin it now” – Goethe
And once again, I’m back on track, moving forward, one step at a time, towards the beginning of this new journey.
