Mom called me early this morning to finalize plans for this evening. Mid-sentence, she bursts out laughing, recalling that last night, while cleaning the house, she found letters I wrote to my dad.
Letter #1, Lola-age ~ 8ish
I’m paraphrasing because I don’t have the letter in front of me, and, well, I wrote it about 20 years ago.
As you know, I’m a lot like you… when we are in the grocery store, I try to walk like you… when mom drives me crazy, I look up to you. When you drive me crazy, I look up to the dog.
Letter #2, Lola-age ~ 20
Context: Dad’s 50th birthday
Front of card: It’s time to start taking left-hand turns from the right-hand lane
Message from me inside of card: Now you can blame on age how mom’s been driving her whole life.
